Convenient diagnostic and treatment options including hysteroscopy, colposcopy, LEEP, and endometrial sampling in a familiar women's healthcare setting.
Not every gynecologic concern requires a hospital or surgical center. Winchester Women's Healthcare offers several diagnostic and treatment procedures conveniently in our Andover office.
Dr. Mary Ann Millar will explain why a procedure is being recommended, what you can expect, and any preparation or follow-up instructions so you can feel informed and comfortable with your care.

Hysteroscopy allows Dr. Millar to examine the inside of the uterus using a thin instrument equipped with a light and camera.
It may be recommended when evaluating concerns such as abnormal uterine bleeding or other suspected abnormalities within the uterine cavity. The procedure provides a direct view that can help identify potential causes of certain gynecologic symptoms.
A colposcopy provides a closer examination of the cervix and may be recommended following certain abnormal Pap or HPV test results. If an abnormal area is identified, a small tissue sample may be collected for further evaluation.
For certain patients diagnosed with cervical dysplasia or abnormal cervical cells, Dr. Millar may recommend a LEEP procedure. LEEP uses a thin wire loop with electrical energy to remove abnormal cervical tissue so it can be evaluated and treated appropriately.

Endometrial sampling involves collecting a small tissue sample from the lining of the uterus for laboratory evaluation.
Dr. Millar may recommend an endometrial biopsy when investigating abnormal uterine bleeding or other concerns involving the endometrium. The results can provide important information and help determine whether additional treatment or evaluation is necessary.
Before your procedure, Dr. Millar will explain why it is recommended and provide instructions for preparing for your appointment. Because each procedure is different, the amount of time required, potential discomfort, recovery, and aftercare instructions can vary.
You'll also receive guidance about what to expect afterward, any temporary activity restrictions, and when follow-up care or results may be available.

Winchester Women's Healthcare offers several in-office procedures, including hysteroscopy, colposcopy, LEEP, and endometrial biopsy or sampling when medically appropriate.
A colposcopy may be recommended after certain abnormal cervical screening results, including some abnormal Pap or HPV test results, so the cervix can be examined more closely.
LEEP is a procedure used to remove certain abnormal areas of cervical tissue, including tissue affected by cervical dysplasia.
Endometrial sampling may be recommended to investigate abnormal uterine bleeding or other concerns involving the lining of the uterus.
Recovery depends on the procedure performed. Dr. Millar will provide specific aftercare instructions, including any temporary restrictions and when you can return to your usual activities.
When further evaluation or treatment is needed, having procedures performed in a familiar office can make your care more convenient. Dr. Millar will guide you through each step and make sure you understand what to expect.
